With the aim of promoting the use of sustainable means of transportation such as the bicycle, Calp City Council has launched a program to hand over the four electric bicycles owned by the City Council to city employees so that they can use them to travel from their homes to their workplaces.
On Saturday 14 March, Calp will host the first gastronomic day of the mantis prawn and white shrimp, organised by Creama Calp, Peix de Calp, the Fisherman's Guild, the Mare de Déu del Carme festivities committee and the Calp municipality.
The day begins at 12 noon and remains open until 8 pm in the Plaza de España.
Participants will be able to try, at reduced prices, mantis prawns and white shrimps, as well as various dishes prepared with these products.
Although the Department of Equality carries out intensive training and awareness-raising work throughout the year, it is at the beginning of March, with the celebration of International Women's Day, that it intensifies its efforts with a specific programme.
This year, under the slogan "We want to work in equality", a programme has been drawn up which includes a rally on Sunday 8 March at 12 noon in Plaza Colón, organised by the Calpe Association of Women for Equality.
Calp City Council has organised an information session to explain some of the projects included in the EDUSI strategy co-financed by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The projects presented are the redesign of calle de Fora in the historic centre, the project of works in calle Alcalde Vicente Pastor and the project of works t for the redesign of calle Benissa and calle Murillo.

Today, the first section of "Vial J" has been opened to traffic, marking the culmination of years of operation of an important infrastructure in the road infrastructure of Calp. Vial J, which will be called Avenida Felipe VI according to the plenary agreement, will allow road traffic to be transferred from the beach area to the national road without crossing Avenida Ejércitos Españoles and Avenida Diputación, thus relieving traffic in the city centre.
Calp has two areas adapted for dogs in its urban area: one in La Fossa and a second in Oppenheim. These are areas equipped with elements for dogs to run out, drinking fountains, litter bins and benches as well as large shady areas. The lighting and other benches will soon be installed in La Fossa.
This week, the City Council carried out the disinfection of the Silene d'Ifac kindergarten with an innovative system. It is an electrostatic spraying device that covers those areas that cannot be reached by conventional methods.
It is a technology that effectively combats surface micro-organisms, bacteria, fungi, viruses and yeasts, reducing the microbial load by up to 100% without posing a threat to students or teaching staff. The Education Department chose this method because it was found that traditional methods do not completely cover all surfaces.
