This week, work began on paving and lighting the D7 road, which begins at Avenida Diputación and ends at a street in the Benicolada neighbourhood. The opening of this road is crucial for the start of work on the pedestrian bridge over the N332, as it will provide access for residents of the area whose current access will disappear with the construction of the pedestrian bridge.

The planned road will have a width of 6 metres and a total length of 163 metres, divided between 112 metres of newly constructed road and 51 metres of road to be rebuilt. The planned works will ensure improved accessibility compared to the current situation, as they include pavements and pedestrian crossings, as well as LED lighting. The works were awarded to the company Categor Obras y Proyectos for €100,126.

The importance of this road is that its execution is a prerequisite for the start of work on the long-awaited pedestrian bridge over the N332.

The Ministry's project foresees the construction of speed change lanes and the construction of the pedestrian walkway to facilitate the connection of the residential area and the railway station with the city centre of Calp. However, the works on the pedestrian bridge mean that the current access road to the Benicolada residential area will be removed, so it is inevitable to carry out this new road, which will allow residents to enter and exit from Avenida Diputación.

In 2015, the Town Council completed the acquisition of the 5,176.78 square metres necessary for the construction of this work, long requested by the municipality, as it will allow residents to cross this road as pedestrians to get from the town to the railway station and the urbanisations of Oltà. thus eliminating one of the most dangerous points in the municipality.
