The Provincial Coastal Service has undertaken to improve the accessibility of the municipality's beaches after the damage caused by the storm. Thus, the head of the service, Rosa de los Ríos, made a commitment to the mayor, Ana Sala, this morning after the meeting in Alicante.

The City Council, in turn, will be responsible for repairing the promenades. A project has already been drawn up to carry out the paving work on the promenades, and a tender for 40,000 euros has been launched. The wall separating the beaches and the promenade is currently not being repaired and will be treated later.

The start of the works to repair the beaches and the promenade is imminent, it is even expected that they can start in a few days and the works will be interrupted at Easter to be resumed later.

At the request of the Town Council, the Provincial Coastal Service will change the location of some of the accesses to the beach in order to improve accessibility. In addition, the Coastal Service will be responsible for the access works to Calalga Bay, where the storm caused severe landslides, and will also repair the wooden staircase that gives access to Borumbot beach. On the other hand, the City Council has obtained permission from the Coastal Service of the province of Costas to start repairing the footbaths on Calalga beaches.

The municipal council is concerned that the beaches are in the best conditions for Easter and summer, so the works must start as soon as possible.
