A total of 9 companies and tourist services of Calpe have received this morning from the hands of the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, the SICTED distinctive, which certifies their commitment to the quality of the destination. To obtain this recognition, they have had to meet a series of requirements such as participating in training modules, individual and collective technical assistance, improvement groups and evaluations.
This is the second time that these certificates are awarded in Calp, as the municipality joined the SICTED program in December 2020. In this edition, the following have achieved the recognition: Audrey's Restaurant, Dive&Dive Diving Centre, Beat Restaurant, Club Náutico Les Basetes, Komfort Restaurant, Restaurante Puerto Blanco, Mare Beach Restaurant, Casa Cultura Jaume Pastor i Fluixà and the Museum of History of Calp.
Calpe currently has 39 companies and tourist services adhered, of which 28 are already distinguished and 11 are the ones that have started this year 2023. The SICTED, Integral System of Spanish Tourist Quality in Destinations, is a project to improve tourist destinations promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
It is a system focused on the tourist destination as a whole and seeks a homogeneous quality system for all the services offered to tourists within the same destination (accommodation, travel agencies, transport, restaurants, tourist offices, museums, shops, municipal services, urban cleaning, etc.). The aim is to implement quality standards aimed at customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The counsellor for Tourism, Paco Avargues has indicated that this program responds to the commitment to quality in the tourism sector that has made the Department of Tourism as it is one of the axes of the Strategic Plan for Tourism 2020 - 2030 of the municipality. Avargues also stressed that: "the public and private sectors must work hand in hand on issues of sustainability, smart destinations and quality certifications".
For her part, the mayoress, Ana Sala, thanked the efforts of entrepreneurs and agents of the tourism sector to improve every day the quality of the destination, the mayoress has named each of the companies and tourist services that have obtained the certification today.
The regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, stressed that: "Tourism is the engine of happiness and Calpe is one of the towns most committed to the quality of the destination, there has been an explosion in recent years due to the involvement of the sector in quality standards".
