FiraCalp, the gastronomy and trade fair of Calpe, opens its doors again on Thursday in the Plaza Mayor square, organised by the Town Hall and Creama-Calpe, with the collaboration of the Calpe Business Association and the Fishermen's Guild.
The fair, now in its thirteenth year and returning to the Plaza Mayor, will this year have 18 stands of restaurants, cafés, and cocktail bars, and will also strengthen its commercial side with the participation of 11 businesses exhibiting their products.
The innkeepers will offer a greater number of tapas, four tapas and a dessert per stand, which will be offered at popular prices, between 2 and 6 euros. The Asociación de Moros y Cristianos will also take part in FiraCalp to sell drinks: beer, soft drinks, and water; the profits will go towards the organisation of this year's patron saint's fiestas. Alongside all this, there will be parallel activities such as musical and dance performances, book signings, wine and olive oil tastings, magic shows, training exhibitions, etc.
On Sunday 14th from 11am, a total of seven local hairdressers will be cutting hair for the benefit of the NGO Payasospital with the collaboration of the Alicante for the fight against Cancer, Calpe branch.
This year also sees the 1st Calpe White Prawn Tapas Competition with the participation of five restaurants: El boquerón de plata, El Arco, El Santo, Plaers and Calentura Bistro. Each of them will offer a tapa whose main ingredient will be the white prawn, the tapa will be priced at 2 euros and consumers will be able to vote for the best tapa through an online form and win a dinner at one of the participating restaurants.
The fair will open its doors on Thursday 11 May at 7 p.m. and will continue until Sunday. In previous editions, this event has attracted 12,000 people over the four days.
