The City Council has decided, at the proposal of the Mayoress, to ask the regional government to adjust the parking lot next to access to the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park.
This is an area of the Generalitat Valenciana (regional government) that has been used for years as a parking area for visitors to the park. This is where the pedestrian route begins. However, it has significantly deteriorated the terrain and requires some measures to improve accessibility and facilitate visits.
The city council has also decided to ask the regional government to hand over the building to the park entrance. The building is owned by the regional government and Calpe plans to set up a visitor centre there.
It is a construction of 730 m2 on the northern slope of the rock, near the park entrance, on a 6.452 m2 plot of land, which was bought by the regional government in 1999 and served asCDT and accommodation for high guests. But the building has been empty for years, and the city council wants to use it as infrastructure for the Peñón de Ifach Natur Park.
