The City Council met this morning to discuss the plan for the transition to Phase 1 of the new normality and its implementation in the municipality. One of the most important agreements was to open the beaches of La Fossa and El Arenal for walking from Wednesday; sunbathing and lying on the sand is not allowed and the established time slots must be respected.

The City Council has decided to close the Cala de Racó and Puerto Blanco bays for the practice of sports, and a section has been created on Borumbot beach for the practice of surfing and kitesurfing by association members or professional sportsmen. Muntanyeta Beach likewise has a section for swimmers and professionals. All these measures will be implemented on Wednesday 13 May to prepare the beaches. From tomorrow, the Las Salinas Park will also be opened for walks.

From Tuesday the 12th, the municipal cemetery will also be open from 9am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm. These facilities have already been cleaned and disinfected, and will be reopened on Tuesday as usual and closed on Monday. It will not be possible to enter without a protective mask and disinfectant gel, and disposable paper will be available at the entrance. Places will be limited to one third of capacity and visitors will have to keep the prescribed safety distance.

A maximum of 15 people may attend the wake if it takes place outdoors and a maximum of 10 people if it takes place in one of the rooms of the municipal cemetery.

Regarding cultural events, the Joanot Martorell Public Library will be adapted this week to open its doors on 18 May, and an independent study room with controlled capacity will also be set up in a room of the Casa de Cultura. The University's headquarters Casa Nova is considering offering the lectures planned for this semester online.

The City Council is also individually considering the extension of terraces and the pedestrian areas in the streets that will allow the extension of these terraces.

However, in anticipation of changes to the time windows that may be decreed by the regional government, the City Council is calling for health measures and time windows to be adhered to and is calling for extreme precautions to continue to be taken.
