This morning the governing body of Calp beaches met and agreed to reopen Calalga Bay next Saturday with restrictions. Given the special nature of this cove, which has more or less sand depending on the tide, it will not always be possible to keep the safety distance, and this will depend on whether it remains open. In the same week, the Morelló cove was opened. Both coves will have lifeguards and inspectors.
The concession company of the beach control app is currently completing the equipping of the beaches with sensors and is expected to be operational soon. Today marks the completion of the installation of sensors on the street lamps of the beaches of Calp, from which areas of the beach are scanned in real time to determine the degree of occupation.
The street lights will have traffic lights that will make it possible to know the capacity of the beaches at the time of access to them; furthermore, the app will make it possible to know from home the occupation of each beach and to choose which beach to visit depending on the level of occupation. Public address systems will also be installed on the beaches to warn users that the rules are not being respected.
The emergency plan drawn up by the beach management body provides for the disinfection of foot baths, railings, litter bins and pavements at least four times a day. In addition, the toilets on the beaches are disinfected twice a day, as required by the regulations.
The 27 inspectors are already on duty, 15 from the City Council and 12 from the Generalitat Valenciana, who will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the capacity and social distance rules on the beaches on a daily basis.
The two main beaches in the municipality of Calp, La Fossa and Arenal-Bol, have separate bathing areas specifically designed to meet the needs of people with mobility problems, the elderly and the visually impaired. These areas are equipped with amphibious chairs and crutches, adapted toilets, and changing rooms, and have two lifeguards who accompany the bathers and help them to bathe.
The beach for dogs is located in the Cala de Les Urques bay and is also open.
