Aguas de Calpe will begin work next Monday, July 13, to renew the pipes between the drinking water tanks of Estación and Oltà.
The new pipeline will run along a public road, replacing the current one, which runs through private land and was already outdated due to numerous breaks that prevented the connection of the towns of Oltamar and Cucarres.
The new distribution line, in turn, will allow the installation of eight hydrants in an area with a significant forest mass and great ecological value. The current pipe has a diameter that does not allow the hydrants needed at this location to be supplied.
The estimated duration of the works, for which an investment of 262,247.28 euros is planned, is four months.
This work will ensure continuity of service by eliminating the current pipeline sections located within private property and by optimising the supply conditions in terms of pressure and flow.
The work is part of the pipeline renewal process being carried out by Aguas de Calpe to ensure the sustainability of the Calp supply system. This, together with the remote control system, the division of the network into sectors and the installation of smart meters for domestic use, is one of the main factors that have influenced the improvement in hydraulic performance, which has enabled Calp to exceed the 85% performance reference in the province of Alicante.
