Aguas de Calpe is carrying out repair work on the rainwater collection basins on La Fossa beach, which had collapsed due to the damage caused by storm Gloria. The work is focused on repairing a 12-metre section of the collector, with twice the diameter of 800 mm.
To repair the collector, the sand accumulated along the entire length of the collector branches was first cleaned with a vacuum pump and the remains of the mass concrete were removed from the collapsed section. Then new pipes were laid with the appropriate concrete and the entire length of the collector branches were repaired by installing a self-supporting reversible joint.
At present, the installation of the new pipes has been completed, and the concreting and covering work is expected to be completed next week. These works have a budget of 88,480.58 euros (excluding VAT).
Despite the state of alarm, Aguas de Calpe is continuing its work with all security measures in order to guarantee the supply and disposal of water to and from the community.
