The NGO WWF reaches Calpe with its campaign "Nature without plastic" and the "WWF Solar" boat. From September 14th to 16th the boat will go on excursions from the Club Naútico de Calpe to collect as much plastic as possible.

WWF Solar is a 14 metre long catamaran, and will be powered exclusively by photovoltaic solar panels and accumulators. The boat holds the Guinness world record as the first solar ship to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 2007.

The boat, which will sail along the coast of Valencia in September, will not only clean the surface of the sea on its own, but also clean the seabed of plastic with the collaboration of yacht clubs and volunteer divers.

The boat will also set up an information stand on the promenade of La Fossa beach (Plaza del Mediterráneo next to the Tourist Information Office) on 14 and 16 September from 10:00-14:00. Plastic recycling workshops will also be organised on board the WWF Solar at the Club Naútico de Calpe. These workshops will take place at 14 from 18:00-21:00 and 16 from 10:00-14:00. The aim of the information stand is to make the influence of waste on marine fauna visible.

The city of Calpe has joined the WWF campaign "Your heritage for the planet: give nature something of yourself, and you will preserve nature for your loved ones" to inform and raise awareness that there is another way to continue protecting the planet, even if we are no longer there by including WWF Spain in our will.

Including the planet in our testament is a way of working together by giving back to the planet a part of what it gives us and leaving a future for future generations. To protect nature is to protect humanity.
