This week, Cemer Play S.L. has been awarded the contract for the remodelling of Parc dels Garrofers for 230,989 euros and a completion period of four months. This is the complete remodelling of this urban park located next to the Casa de Cultura and close to the Civic Centre. The project is 100% funded by the Provincial Council as part of the Plan +Cerca 2023.
The actions will focus on the replacement of the children's playground equipment and the creation of a continuous shock-absorbing pavement. The existing equipment in the park will also be replaced with new benches and new litter bins.
In the lower part of the park there is currently a circuit of healthy elements that are in disuse, as they are in poor condition due to the time they have been in service. It is planned to remove the existing equipment and install a new healthy circuit with 4 healthy elements and 2 elements for users with reduced mobility. In addition, a wooden pergola will be installed in a paved area where tables with benches will be placed.
The park is currently enclosed on the perimeter by a masonry wall and topped with a steel fence, in its highest part the fence is made of wood and needs to be replaced due to its poor condition.
To increase the shade in the children's play area, it is planned to plant mulberry trees in specific areas. Finally, it is planned to refurbish the public toilets, which are currently in poor condition due to wear and tear and the length of their useful life.
The councillor for Urban Planning, Infrastructures and Urban Quality, Juan Manuel del Pino, pointed out that "this park had become obsolete and especially the play area and its paving were quite deteriorated, with the remodelling work the whole park will be improved, more trees will be added and it will improve a park which, given its location, has many users".
