Yesterday the theatre group Platea won the prize for the best performance in the 9th National Amateur Theatre Competition "Antonio Ferrer, the Postman" with the play "Romeo e Giulietta". This ensemble was also the winner of the prize for the best stage production.

The prize for the best female performance went to Rocío Reyes for her role in the play "Un espíritu burlón" by the Asociación Teatral "El Lugá" from Málaga, while the prize for the best male role went to Roberto Jifer of the Paraskenia Teatro for his role in the play "Maison Close". The best director was awarded to the Asociación Teatral El Lugá for "Un espíritu burlón". The prize for the best play is 2000 euros, while the prize for the ensembles that made it to the final round is 1000 euros.

Since the beginning of February, the Calp Cultural Centre has hosted the performance of the three final round plays: "A Mocking Spirit" by the theatre association "El Lugá", which opened the event, "Maison Close" by the cultural association "Paraskenia Teatro" and "Romeo e Giulietta, una commedia de W. Shakespeare" by the theatre group Platea.

The contest ended with the award ceremony and the performance of the comedy "Gag Movie" by Yllana Teatre. The competition was created in 2012 to honour theatre, an artistic discipline that has been a tradition in Calp for over a hundred years, and the local actor Antonio Ferrer.
