This morning, the members of the Commission in charge of organising the events to celebrate the centenary of the Fishermen's Guild met in the Plenary Hall.

The first part of the meeting consisted of defining the programme of events to be held throughout the year to commemorate the event and one of the points to be discussed was the possible inclusion of the "bous a la mar" celebrations in the programme of events for the centenary of the Fishermen's Guild.

The members of the Centenary Commission, with representatives of the Municipal Corporation, the Fishermen's Guild and social and cultural entities of the municipality, have expressed their surprise at the controversy that has arisen in recent days, as the possibility of holding "Bous a la Mar" was not raised at any of its previous sessions.

In this regard, both the Patron Mayor of the Brotherhood, Paco Catalá, and the councillors for Culture, Guillermo Sendra, and for Fishing and Festivities, Mariola Mulet, have stressed that "there was never any formal intention on the part of this Commission to hold "bous a la mar", although there were informal comments outside the session.

The possibility of incorporating these festivities into the programme of events for the Centenary of the Brotherhood was put to the vote and the result was 6 votes against, 4 in favour and 3 abstentions.
