The "Joanot Martorell" municipal library of Calpe had 18,000 readers in the first six months of the year.

The most used was the lending of books, with megr than 2,800 books, followed by free Internet queries, with more than 2,400. The library has 5 PCs with Internet access and 9 tables with connections for laptops. The municipal library has organised various activities to encourage children and young people to read. A total of 490 boys and girls from the city took part in these events (exhibitions, guided tours or story reading).

During this period, more than 150 new cards were issued between new reading and renewal. The card allows not only borrowing books, but also reserving books or requesting a book available from another library. These services are also available on the Internet, so it is not necessary to go to the library if, for example, we want to extend the loan period.

One of the services that enjoys great acceptance is the lending of electronic books or e-books through the eBiblio App. With this app we can access the book catalogue, make a reservation, download the book and return it directly from our tablet, computer or mobile phone without having to go to the library in person.

The latest service, set up just a week ago, is the Espai Violeta, a place where we can find more than 150 books selected with a gender perspective for all age groups, including children and adolescents.
