Next Tuesday's plenary session of the city council will deal with the basis for granting individual aid to cover housing costs for pensioners and the long-term unemployed. The aim is to subsidise the property tax (IBI) on housing in the year preceding the call for tender, so as to prevent a deterioration in the living conditions of people in a disadvantaged economic situation.

The aid amounts to a maximum of 75% of the amount of property tax (IBI) paid, with a ceiling of 400 euros per beneficiary. This amount is increased by 10% in the case of disabled people or members in a family or relationship with disabled people, victims of gender-based violence or single-parent families.

The following persons may benefit from the assistance: persons over 65 years of age or who reach this age in the year specified in the call for applications, persons under 65 years of age who are pensioners under the social security scheme in the year specified in the call for applications, and persons who are long-term unemployed in the year specified in the call for applications.

The conditions for applying for this allowance are that the applicant is registered in Calp in the dwelling to which the property tax relates, that the applicant has only one dwelling, which is also his/her permanent dwelling, that he/she does not enjoy a tax reduction due to extended family, and that he/she is up to date with his/her obligations to the tax authorities and social security.

Once the conditions are approved, they will be made available to the public and once this condition is met, the process will begin. Last year the City Council received 126 applications and a total of almost 30,000 euros in grants were awarded.
