The City Council today, during a session celebrated via Skype, has estimated the municipal aid to meet the basic needs of food, hygiene and pharmacy products for the most vulnerable groups at 100,000 euros. As of this week these requests for these aids are being processed quickly through the Municipal Department of Social Services, as all that is needed to initiate the request is to send an e-mail (servsociales@ajcalp.es) or a telephone call to the department (96 583 72 23 and 96 583 51 11).

From 20 March and 2 April, the Social Services Department responded to 115 e-mails and 172 phone calls related to assistance with the alarm situation and the coronavirus. In addition the staff of the municipal social services is being reinforced with more workers and social assistants to cover all the needs arising from the alarm situation.

The City Council insists that all requests for assistance be answered; the City Councillor for Social Services, Noelia Císcar, has pointed out that "although we have designated the staff exclusively for telephone assistance and mail, it is possible that the lines may be busy. We ask for a little patience, but we will not leave anyone without help".

On the other hand, the social services have received numerous proposals from volunteers, but according to the city councillor, "the best way to help is to stay at home; the Red Cross, Caritas, civil protection and social services already cover the needs that arise. We appreciate this willingness to cooperate and we thank you, but now it is better to stay at home.

The City Council also recalls that the housing rent subsidies, which are claimed by the Conselleria de Vivienda and processed by the City Council's OAC, have currently been stopped and that they will be made known to citizens as soon as new deadlines are set.
