Calpe is preparing its infrastructure so that people with reduced mobility can also enjoy the sea, because from Saturday 15 June and until 15 September, the two main beaches of the municipality of Calpe, Fossa and Arenal-Bol, will have separate bathing areas specially adapted to the needs of people with mobility problems, the elderly and the visually impaired. These areas of the beach for disabled guests are located in the Fossa at Llevant Street and on Arenal-bol Beach at Holland Street.

These areas are equipped with amphibious chairs and crutches, handicapped accessible bathrooms, shower and dressing rooms as well as lifeguards, who look after and accompany the users of the beach. If you wish, you can also choose to be accompanied by a trained relative. These beaches are open from Monday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and have reserved parking spaces nearby.

On 21 June, the Instituto de Investigación en Medio Ambiente y Ciencia Marina (IMEDMAR) of the Catholic University

will open the underwater path on Racó de Calpe beach for the use and enjoyment of people with disabilities. This path, unique in the Valencia region, consists of five panels marked on the surface by buoys connected by floating dew and 10 informative panels on the most characteristic species of the Mediterranean.

To ensure that the underwater paths can also be used by disabled people, the design consists of a panel structure and a rope connecting the buoys to facilitate support and movement between the panels. There is also a snorkelling area that allows disabled people to lie down and snorkel.

The underwater path facilities will be disassembled in September and rebuilt before the next summer. Cala del Racó, just below the Peñón de Ifach summit, offers a great variety of important Mediterranean marine species.
