Today the rules that regulate the granting of municipal aid for the rental of permanent housing for young people with limited financial resources in Calpe, Lloguer Jove., have been published. The City Council allocates €150,000 to this initiative with the aim of facilitating the enjoyment of rented housing for young people with limited financial means.

From tomorrow, individuals under 35 years of age registered in Calpe who are tenants of a rental contract for a property that is a permanent and habitual residence located in Calpe will be able to apply for this aid. The rental contract must have a minimum duration of one year.

Another of the conditions is that the annual income of the cohabitation unit or of the individual tenant in the case of renting a room does not exceed 3 times the IPREM. In the event that there is a large family or a person with functional diversity with a degree of 65% or more in the cohabitation unit, the threshold not to be exceeded will be 5 times the IPREM. Only one grant will be awarded per dwelling.

The Lloguer Jove grant consists of a maximum grant of €1,200 for six months' rent between September 2023 and September 2024.

The application, along with the required documentation, can be submitted from tomorrow 24 April until 13 September 2024 at the electronic office or at the Citizen's Advice Bureau (OAC) of the City Council. The Lloguer Jove grant cannot be used in conjunction with any other rental aid that may be granted by other administrations or public bodies.

The Councillor for Social Welfare, Itziar Doval, promoter of this initiative, stressed that "for the first time this type of aid is launched in Calpe, for which the City Council allocates €150,000, with this measure we want to give an initial response to a serious problem: the difficulties of young people to access housing.
