This morning, the Mayor Ana Sala and the Councillor for Beaches, Matias Torres, and the Councillor for Contracts, Fernando Ortiz, met with the technical officers of the City Council to discuss the works planned for this summer in relation to the beaches.

The City Council is preparing its summer season in anticipation of government directives in this area, so that everyone can return to normal as soon as possible after the alarm has gone off. The aim is to have all contracts and extensions ready to guarantee the essential services on the beaches and to prepare for the various possible scenarios.

The City Council has undertaken to reduce the beach facilities for this summer, exceptionally for this year, in order to maintain the security measures. The Mayor explained that "it will be an abnormal and atypical season and we are working to adapt to the situation".

Thus, the town is working on extending the rescue and lifeguard service and buoys, preparing footbaths and pavements, and separating and screening algae. It is also looking into how to control access to the beaches in case it needs to be planned, even if it depends on government regulations.

In addition, it is expected that the work to repair the walls and pave the promenades, which were destroyed by storm Gloria, will soon be awarded.
