The Calp City Council has finally closed down the Calp Ayuda Food Bank, which was established in 2012 to guarantee basic food supplies to needy families in the community. This service has since been managed by Social Services and is located in the facilities of the community pavilion.

The regulations in this regard made it necessary to agree on its closure in 2016 and to redirect its activities through the Mesa Solidaria, which is made up of the City Council and various local NGOs that provide all the aid to the most needy. The aim is to coordinate the community's social actions, avoid duplication of work and improve the quality of services, whose purpose is to protect the most vulnerable population.

It was the wish of the municipal government to close down the food bank definitively at the beginning of the year, but given the situation created by Covid19 and the state of alarm, it remained open to help families with the supply of essential goods.

Mayor Ana Sala explained that "this service has enabled us to help many people and I would like to thank the people who created it at that time, such as César Sánchez, the mayor in that legislature, and the councillors M.ª Elia Santos and Ana Perles, who initiated the project, while the current councillor Noelia Císcar completed the work of the board. I don't want to forget the municipal workers who have developed their work in this ministry and all the people who have worked together to help others".
