The 2023/2024 school year begins in Calpe with 3,261 students, 181 more than those registered at the beginning of the previous school year. There are 1,922 pupils enrolled in Infants and Primary, 160 in the Silene d'Ifac Infant School and 1,179 in the Ifac Secondary School. Enrolment is open all year round so these figures may vary.

Fact is that in recent years the number of enrolments has only increased in Calpe. 2,888 students started the school year in 2021 and 3,080 in 2022, figures that are on the rise and "demonstrate the urgent need for a fifth school and a second secondary school," said the councillor for Education Mariola Mulet. Moreover, "as enrolment is open all year round, the number of students is increasing; in fact, during the last academic year, 350 boys and girls were enrolled", she pointed out.

This year, the IES Ifac will have 10 prefabricated classrooms installed in the car park of the centre to alleviate the overcrowding of these facilities. It is expected that the classrooms will be able to accommodate students after the adaptation works that will be carried out during this week.

The council is also awaiting approval from the Conselleria for municipal land - located in the Gargasindi area, next to the urban orchards - to house new prefabricated classrooms for next year's school year in order to further reduce congestion. The Town Hall is finalising the last details so that the project for the construction of the new IES can go out to tender as soon as possible.

This summer, Calpe Town Council, through the municipal brigades, has carried out various gardening, plumbing, electrical and painting works, as well as cleaning and disinfection tasks in the town's schools in order to get them ready for the start of the school year. It is expected that for the next school year the government team will increase the budget allocated to the maintenance of schools.
