The Governing Board of the Calpe Town Council agreed last Friday to record its dissatisfaction with the poor performance of the Technical Vehicle Inspection of Vehicles and the delay in providing the service to the public. It was also unanimously agreed to pass the matter on to the competent body, in this case the public company Sociedad Valenciana de Inspección Técnica de Vehículos.
Last March saw the reversion of the new ITV service and before the mobile ITV service was interrupted in the municipality, the mayoress met with the director of the public company Sociedad Valenciana de Inspección Técnica de Vehículos to study different locations.
Finally, to ensure that the reversion would not leave the municipality without a service, the Town Council ceded a plot of land in the Rafol area, near the municipal vehicle depot, for the definitive installation of the Calp mobile ITV. Work on the installation of the station was managed by the Sociedad Valenciana de ITV and the service began operating in May.
However, since then, the service has generated many complaints from citizens due to the impossibility of making appointments through the SITVAL website. The Consistory has worked at all times to prevent citizens from having to travel outside the municipality to carry out the technical inspection of their vehicles, however the poor functioning of the service is forcing many Calpe inhabitants to travel.
