The Territorial Urban Planning Commission of Alicante, dependent on the Regional Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works, and Mobility, has definitively approved the specific modification D-13 of the PGOU-98 to improve the environment and cultural heritage of the urban land of La Manzanera, which will protect the last unspoilt plot of land on the Calpe coastline, located in this residential area of approximately 10,000m2.
The Official Gazette of the Province, dated 1 June 2023, has published this resolution which converts this plot of land, which until now has been for development, into a green zone. This is a project that started at the beginning of the legislature with the aim of safeguarding a pine forest, located next to the coast on building land on which a license could be requested, which led to the decision to transfer its buildable area to other green and endowment areas in the same urbanization La Manzanera.
The specific modification D-13 also has repercussions on the cultural heritage of the residential area as it entails a comprehensive protection of Bofill's work on the outside. From now on, any aesthetic modification of the exterior of the buildings constructed by the Catalan architect is prevented.
In addition, this specific modification also allows the green spaces of the development to be organised and the accesses to the coast to be increased.
