Calpe currently has 42 active cases of gender violence, according to what has been announced at the table of collaboration and coordination of gender violence, held yesterday at the Calpe Town Hall.
The meeting was attended by the Mayoress of Calpe, Ana Sala, the Councillor for Equality Noelia Císcar and representatives of the Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Subdelegation, the Public Defence Office of Gender Violence of Dénia, Guardia Civil, Local Police, Women Centre of Dénia, Office of Attention to the Victims of Crimes of the Judicial District of Dénia, as well as the Department of Social Inclusion, Equality and Family of Calpe Town Hall. For the first time, representatives from the health centre and the Ifac Secondary School of Calpe were also present.
The current figure of 42 active cases represents a slight increase compared to 2022, when 39 cases were registered, although these figures are still far from the 67 cases that were registered two years ago.
At the meeting, evolution data were presented, and it was once again noted that the number of cases increases in specific periods such as in summer (50 active cases were registered in September).
The currently active cases involve women of 15 different nationalities. By age, the main age range of female victims is 21 to 40 years old, 59.5%, although the age range 41 to 50 years old also stands out with 19%.
The meeting also discussed the preventive actions that are being carried out by the Calpe Town Council, such as workshops at the high school, violet points in the festivities, training actions, as well as others to prevent trafficking.
"These meetings allow to reinforce the coordination and collaboration between the different administrations involved in the fight against gender violence in order to continue improving the prevention, detection and care for victims," said the mayoress of Calpe, Ana Sala.
