Today saw the opening of the new smart zebra crossing installed by Pavapark Movilidad, a company that manages the regulated parking service on public roads through ORA CALP.
It is a system that increases road safety at a point in the municipality that has a high daily density of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, namely at the junction of Avenida de los Ejércitos Españoles with Corbeta and L' Esport streets.
The Mayor, Ana Sala, and the Councillor for Transport, Domingo Sala, together with representatives of the Pavapark company, visited the site to see how the installation works.
The new intelligent pedestrian crossing is equipped with sensors able to detect pedestrians before they cross. This technology activates light signals on the slats of the zebra crossing, alerting vehicles to the proximity of pedestrians.
With this new implementation, Calp City Council is committed to a model of sustainable, smart, and safe urban mobility, joining the recent equipping of new parking spaces in the Health Centre car park with sensors and a comprehensive mobility platform; or the implementation of an app to make payment, knowing in real time the number of free spaces or manage electric vehicle charging stations, among others.
These innovations, implemented by Pavapark Mobility as part of the service contract for the control of regulated parking on public roads that began on 3 August last year, were proposed to the Corporation as part of a roadmap aimed at making Calp one of the pioneer municipalities in the province in terms of smart city technologies.
