As of July,1 and up to now, the police have filed a total of 64 complaints against bathers who have left umbrellas, chairs, deck chairs and other items on the beach before 09:30 to reserve a place.
This measure derives from the municipal regulation on the use of the coast, which prohibits the indiscriminate occupation of the public area, both in terms of time and space, and specifically refers to the occupation of the beach with elements such as chairs, deckchairs and parasols from the early hours of the morning.
This trend makes it more difficult to clean the beaches, which is why the regulation provides for the removal of all equipment installed on the beaches before 9.30 a.m. and for a penalty to be imposed on the owners.
The regulation also states that those umbrellas, chairs or hammocks that have been left standing for more than three hours without their owners being present all day may be removed.
For some years now, during the summer, the Town Council has received numerous complaints about the reservation of beach areas, since when users arrive at the beach in the morning, they find metres of beach occupied without the owners of the installed elements being present.
The Public Security Councillor, Domingo Sanchez, said that "we want to guarantee the work of the workers who clean the beach; especially this summer we must appeal to the responsibility of the bathers so that they do not occupy the beach when they are not present.
The bathers can pick up the objects removed from the beach and stored on the polei guard according to the police regulation on "buen gobierno y fiscalidad de la venta no sedentaria".
