These weeks the works for the installation of the canopy in the Carrer de la Pilota have started with a double objective: to be able to use this facility even in unfavourable weather conditions and at the same time to achieve a better use of this sports facility. It is expected that the work will be completed within four weeks.
The roof will be made of translucent polycarbonate panels and a suspended sliding door will be installed. Together with the roof, the lighting of the facility has also been renewed, replacing the existing spotlights with LED lights. The new lighting system allows for phased ignition, which together with the LED type, allows for considerable savings in electricity consumption.
The work costs 115,000 euros and is subsidised by the Provincial Council. The Carrer de la Pilota was inaugurated in 2006, and recently a climbing wall was installed on one of its walls to introduce young people to the discipline of climbing.
With these actions, the City Council for Sport continues its work to improve the facilities with the aim of making them more sustainable, trying to maximise their use and allow for the expansion of the range of sports spaces available to citizens.
