The Calp Town Council has awarded the concession contract for the regulated parking service, the so-called Zona Azul (Blue Zone), to the company Pavapark Movilidad S.L. for an annual fee of 401,000 euros and a term of 48 months. The contract also includes the provision of the towing service. The service is scheduled to start on 3 August and is aimed in particular at developing Calp as a Smart City and promoting vehicle rotation in the municipality to support local commerce.
The limited parking service covers a total of 2,226 spaces and will be distributed over three types of areas: the blue zone (from Monday to Saturday, which is not a public holiday, all year round and at a general price of 0.85 euro/hour and 0.40 euro/hour for residents/dealers card holders), the green zone (from Monday to Friday, which is not a public holiday, all year round and at the same price as the blue zone) and the orange zone (from 1 January to 31 December). July to 31 August in the beach zone at a general price of 0.95 euro/hour and 0.45 euro/hour for residents/traders). The new contract sets reduced rates for residents and traders directly affected by the regulatory zones
As a novelty and in an experimental way, between May and October, the mixed orange zone was set up from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in 55 car parks in the historic centre (between Justicia Street and Avenida del Norte). The fee for these spaces will be free of charge, but will be accompanied by a parking ticket to facilitate the rotation of vehicles.
The new contract will extend the streets affected by the limited parking spaces to allow the highest possible vehicle rotation in areas where local services are concentrated, as well as in other areas of high traffic such as the beaches during the summer. The changes introduced include the inclusion of part of Avenida Masnou and the streets Benissa, Murillo and Isaac Peral as green areas.
The contract also provides for the Residents' Card for those who live in Calp and own vehicles for which they apply for the sign with the reduced price and a special card for companies affected by the blue zone. Vehicles with the zero-emissions ecolabel and, as before, persons with reduced mobility are exempt from payment.
The service will have 26 new parking meters, in addition to the 49 already in operation. Alphanumeric keyboards will be installed so that users can enter their number plate to obtain a ticket. Ora Calp will include a 100% electric vehicle and van, as well as new technological systems that will guarantee real-time traceability of parking control by the City Council.
In the coming days, the company will review and update the facilities and equipment. Ora Calp has also set up the mobile application (app) Moviltik, which allows to pay for parking in the blue zone, to know the free spaces recorded in real time or to manage the charging points for electric vehicles.
It has also incorporated technological and user-friendly improvements in the app for lodging complaints; it has set up a mobility platform that allows the City Council to track the traceability of revenues and the management of complaints in real time, and finally an app for managing the vehicle removal service. All information about the new regulated parking service on public roads is available on the website "Ora Calp.es".
