The government of Calp announced a few months ago its intention to articulate a tourism model based on cultural tourism, identity and healthy lifestyle that allows increasing the competitiveness of Calp as a tourist destination. With the objective of approaching this goal, several municipal departments have coordinated to draw up a wide complementary offer for this summer.
The Department for Culture have allocated about € 70,000 to develop a solid and comprehensive program that brings together performances of local cultural groups such as the Unión Musical Calp Ifach, the Rondalla or the Xirimiters del Carellot with performances of international groups such as the Philharmonic Chamber of Vienna or the Orchestra of the Valencian Community and the Youth Orchestra of the Province of Alicante.
In addition, the municipal department has started open-air cinema cycles; on the one hand the "Cinema a la Mar" continues with free weekly screenings on the beaches La Fossa (Tuesday) and Arenal (Thursday) and is complemented by "Cinema a la fresca", outdoor film screenings at the Odeón Theatre of the Cultural Centre.
