The Contestani conductor and composer Francisco Valor Llorens will be the speaker of the festivities of Moors and Christians in October. A delegation of the Association of Moors and Christians Santíssim Crist de la Suor, with its president Ignacio Seguí and the president of the UNDEF Pepa Prats, recently met with the renowned composer to formally invite him to announce the beginning of the festivities.
The president of the Association of Moors and Christians said that "this year we wanted a person closely linked to the festivities to announce its beginning; Francisco Valor Llorens also knows Calp, since he spent his summer holidays here, and knows our festivals of Moors and Christians. For us it is an honour to count on him as the speaker".
Francisco Valor Llorens is currently one of the most prestigious composers of festive music in the province of Alicante, initially formed in the Unión Musical Contestana under the protection of José Pérez Vilaplana and Enríque Torró Insa, he received training in band conduction at the local school of the Vall d 'Albaida and in the Allegro Academy of Valencia with the composer Ferrer Ferran.
His compositional work has won numerous awards, his first monograph "Creu Daurà" received in 2007 the Euterpe Award for the best band recording given by the Valencian Federation of Musical Entities. In 2010 he won the first prize of the Composition Contest Vila de Petrer. In 2011 he received the Euterpe award for musical creation for his piece Antebellum and in 2012 he won the 1st Prize and Special Audience Prize in the "Fco Cerdà" Band Composition Contest of L'Olleria.
He has been nominated for several international awards including the "Hollywood in Media Awards 2014" for his piece Llegenda. He conducts the musical Instructive band of Alfarrasí and is assiduously a guest conductor for numerous bands of music when his pieces are played. His music is interpreted and recognized by numerous bands and musical groups of our country. With his speech on the 19th of October, the patron saint festivities will begin until the 22nd of October.
