The Festivities Committee 2018 celebrates tomorrow, on the 30th of June, the ceremony of election and proclamation of the Queen and the Children Queen of the Festivities of Calp in the Mayor Square. This ceremony will start at 22 hours and is one of the most important events organized by the Festivities Committee.
35 candidates of 18 years old will aim for the title of Queen of the Festivities, the highest female representative of the local festivities. This event will serve to elect the child queen among 24 candidates of eight years old. All the candidates will be accompanied by children and young men born in the 2010 and 2000 who are part of the Festivities Committee and by the members of the Committee born in 1980, presided over by Víctor Cazorla.
The election of the Queens will be made, as in other years, by lottery before a notary in a gala that supposes the official presentation of the Festivities Committee and that will also serve to say goodbye to the Queens of the Festivities 2017, Ángela Arlandis and Claudia Shepherd. As tradition marks the queens of 2017 will be responsible for extracting the names of the new queens that will be read once the courts of honour are present on stage.
The event is held in the Mayor Square, where large walkways on the stage and 2,000 chairs will be installed. The Festivities Committee of 2018, in charge of the organization of the patron saint festivities in August, has already carried out other events within the program during the present year, such as the presentation of their Blusón, the organization of the Three Wise Men parade or the events during the Holy Week.
