Calpe Town Council has put out to tender the refurbishment work on the wall and porch of the playground at Gabriel Miró school, facilities that have been shored up by the Town Council for more than a year to guarantee the safety of the schoolchildren.
The precarious situation of this facility has led the Town Hall to take on the work, which has a base budget of 71,039.35 € and a completion period of two months. The works could have been included in the Pla Edificant but this would have delayed their execution, so in the end the Consistory will take on the project with municipal funds.
When the CEIP Gabriel Miró in Calpe was built, the children's pavilion was provided with a porch that would provide shade to the area between classes in the children's pavilion. This porch, made of reinforced concrete slabs on walls, has buckling in all its openings, which puts its stability at risk.
The work will consist of reinforcing the roof slab, but it is also planned to complete the work with the rehabilitation of the inside corner of the cracked facing wall. To this end, the guttering will be repaired and replaced, which is currently sagging and badly deteriorated. In addition, the intervention will be finished off by creating an access for the maintenance and cleaning of the area hidden under the gutter, adding a door where there is currently a wall.
The councillor for education, Mariola Mulet, pointed out that "from the Department of Education we wanted to speed up the bureaucratic process as much as possible to ensure the safety of the children in the centre, it is important that the educational facilities are in the best conditions".
