The Seu Universitària de Calpe is planning to hold a round table discussion on the figure and work of the architect and composer Anna Bofill Levi, sister of the architect Ricardo Bofill. This is one of the most important events in the Seu Universitària's programme of activities, which was presented this morning by the director of the university's headquarters, Feliciana Sala, and the councillor for the headquarters, Mariola Mulet.

This activity will take place on 14 December at the Casa Nova and will feature Anna Bofill herself along with architecture lecturers from the University of Alicante María Elia Gutiérrez Mozo, José Parra Martínez and Ana Gilsanz Díaz.

"With this round table we close the participation of the Seu Universitària in the events organised by the Calpe Town Hall on the occasion of the Bofill Year", emphasised Feliciana Sala.

Anna Bofill is a doctor in architecture and composer and was a pioneer, being one of the first women to graduate in architecture from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Barcelona in 1973. Her architectural works include Walden 7 when she was part of the Taller de Arquitectura and, individually, the Plaza Cataluña train station in Barcelona. She is a point of reference for feminism in architecture and has worked to incorporate the gender perspective in urban planning, as well as vindicating throughout her career the role of women in music and architecture.

Other activities programmed for this first four-month period include the presentation of the book "La Marina cantonal. Main actions during the Cartagena uprising (1873-1874) by Manuel Rolandi Sánchez-Solís about the Calpean sailor and prominent cantonal leader Nicolás Constantini Sau, which will take place on 9 November. Also scheduled for 16th November is the conference "The mosaics of the Roman villa of Banys de la Reina" by Lorenzo Abad Casal, Emeritus Professor of Archaeology at the University of Alicante.

On the other hand, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, an exhibition of a video game created by Antonio Carrasco, professor of Modern History at the University of Alicante, on the biography of Catalina de Erauso, the Nun Ensign, will be held at the IES Ifac. "The video game reconstructs the difficulties that this woman had to be a soldier and how she overcame these difficulties and serves as an educational tool for learning history," said Feliciana Sala, so it is planned to take place in the IES Ifac, although it is not ruled out that it will also be held in the Casa Nova for the general public.

On 30 November, the presentation of the book "Els Riuraus Valencians, edificis únics al món" will be held, and the Riuraus de la comarca will be discussed, with special attention to those of Calpe, by the Associació Riuraus Vius. The Christmas concert by the string quartet of the University of Alicante will close the programme of this first four-month period on 21st December.

"The presentation of this first four-month period of the academic year includes a wide variety of activities such as conferences, book presentations, concerts and even an activity with the students of IES Ifac, a whole series of activities that I hope will be well received," said the councillor of the Seu Universitària de Calpe, Mariola Mulet.
