The company awarded the concession for the Puerto Blanco marina, Marina PortBlanc, has informed the Mayoress of Calp that the handing over of the concession area by the Regional Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility has been signed, meaning that work will begin in September.
The signing of the handing over of the land was a prerequisite for the company to gain access to the site. In addition, according to the company's announcement, the works will begin in September in compliance with the municipal ordinance on noise from construction work in summer, although it intends to collect the material for the work during the month of August.
Last June, the Regional Ministry began to remove the abandoned boats from Puerto Blanco, which was the first action in this enclave after several years in which the project has been paralysed. This removal was necessary so that the company awarded the Marina PortBlanc concession could take possession of the land.
The Port Blanc project is two years behind schedule, as work should have begun in 2021 and the new port was scheduled to open its doors in the summer of 2022. However, it was stopped by a boundary problem between the administrations which was resolved in August 2022 when Costas gave the go-ahead to the modifications to the ascription lines requested by the Ministry of Ecological Transition itself.
The company is expected to invest five million euros in the project and will carry out urban development, building and port works. Marina PortBlanc, as it will be called, will house some 200 moorings for jet skis and boats of up to 15 metres in length, car parks, restaurants, and a leisure area.
The mayoress, Ana Sala, has shown her satisfaction and has pointed out that "after more than three years of waiting since the awarding of the project, it seems that this emblematic port for Calp and the province is now closer. At the same time, the Town Hall wants to widen the access road to Puerto Blanco".
