The company awarded the concession for the Puerto Blanco marina, Marina PortBlanc, hopes to be able to finish the dredging work at the end of the month. These are highly complex works as they are being carried out in the dry to minimise the inconvenience.
The dredging of the port water began on 30 October and consists of chopping up the rocky bottom to achieve the necessary draught. To keep the bailing dry and avoid leaks, a compact dam has been built and bailing pumps are being used continuously. The company reports that if the dredging work had been carried out by sea, it would have taken longer and, the inconvenience would have been greater.
However, the works are being carried out in compliance with the timetable of the ordinance on acoustic conditions, which establishes that outside the summer season, construction works can be carried out between 8am and 10pm.
The works to recover Marina Port Blanc, following the concession of the marina to Marina Port Blanc, began in September. The Port Blanc project was two years behind schedule as work should have started in 2021 and the new port was due to open in the summer of 2022. However, it was paralysed by a boundary problem between the administrations which was resolved in August 2022 when Costas gave the go-ahead to the modifications to the ascription lines requested by the Ministry of Ecological Transition itself.
The company is expected to invest five million euros in the project and will carry out urban development, building and port works. Marina PortBlanc, as it will be called, will house some 200 moorings, including jet skis and boats of up to 15 m in length, car parks, restaurants, and a leisure area.
