Calpe Town Hall would like to remind you of the importance of being registered on the municipal census, as well as renewing your details on the census - when necessary - as this will enable those registered to access a number of municipal services and benefits.
To register on the census it is necessary to provide:
Identity document or passport or NIE (green) or residence card, etc.
Document of the dwelling: Title deed or payment of municipal taxes (IBI, waste collection) or utility bill (electricity, water) or rental contract (with the last bill paid) or authorisation of the owner of the dwelling with documentation accrediting said ownership.
It will also be necessary to update the data in the census:
Every time you change your address within the same municipality.
If you are a foreigner:
Every 5 years: if you are an EU resident (green NIE) or a non-EU citizen with a long-term Residence Card or Residence Card of a family member who is a citizen of the Union, or a British citizen with the new Residence document by virtue of art. 18.4 of the withdrawal agreement.
Every 2 years: if you are a non-EU Non-Resident or non-EU citizen without a Long-Term Residence Card.
When you change residence: If you move to another municipality you must register with the Town Hall of that municipality (or Spanish Consulate if abroad). Only foreigners who are going to transfer their residence to another country must apply in writing to be removed from the Register of Inhabitants in this Town Hall.
How to exercise your right to vote if you are a foreigner
The Town Council also provides information on the procedures to be followed by foreigners to exercise their right to vote.
Community foreigner for the municipal and European elections
At the time of registration, you may request your registration in the census for the municipal elections and in the census for the European elections, with the option of indicating whether you wish to be registered in one, both or neither. However, you have the right to change your choice later.
If you did not do so when you registered ,you can do so at any time by going to the Citizen's Advice Bureau (OAC) of Calpe Town Council or if you have a digital certificate you can do so on the website of the National Statistics Institute (INE) www.ine.es.
Non-community citizens for the municipal elections
Before the elections are held, the countries that have a reciprocity agreement with Spain and whose nationals may therefore exercise their right to vote are published. In this case, each time the municipal elections are called, they must request their inclusion on the census lists.
