The Salón de Cristal of the Valencia Town Hall was the setting chosen by Correos to hold the Official Presentation of the postage stamp that the postal entity has put into circulation dedicated to Luis Miguel Ferri Llopis, better known as Nino Bravo. The event, which took place on Monday 5th February, was attended by the Councillor for Cultural Action of Valencia City Council, José Luis Moreno, the Director of Philately, Leire Diez, the singer's daughters, María Amparo Ferri and Eva Ferri, his biographer Darío Ledesma, as well as local authorities and representatives of Correos, being invited for the occasion the philately from Calpe, not in vain it was from Calpe where the proceedings were initiated to make this stamp a reality as it has been.
Both the biographer of the singer and the Director of Philately of Correos, highlighted the commitment that the philately of Calpe had shown for years, when already in 2018 the application for this stamp became a reality, making a second application with the support of the family Ferri Martínez, and several public institutions such as the City Council of Valencia, Aielo de Malferit - his hometown - and Villarubio (Cuenca) where he lost his life on April 16, 1973. On behalf of the Calpina philately, its President, José Ivars Ivars, travelled to the capital of the Turia, who for years had been waiting for this event to take place, as the stamp that was expected for the 75th anniversary of the birth of Nino Bravo, which took place in 2019, was not attended, nor for the 50th anniversary of the fateful accident that cost the life of the singer, an event that was celebrated in style last year 2023.
This year, on 3 August, Nino Bravo would have been 80 years old, and on this occasion Correos did understand that this voice, this prodigy of a Valencian singer, internationally famous and whose songs continue to be sung by his fans and non-fans, deserved to be in the Olympus of World Philately, and on 29 January last it put into circulation a unique stamp that both his most loyal fans and the philatelic world were awaiting. The stamp with an "A" tariff, for standard mail within Spain, has a print run of 10 million copies, making it the stamp with the highest number of copies to be made in recent years, when issues usually do not exceed 200,000 copies.
The stamp also bears an "unpublished" image of the singer, which the family wanted to use to illustrate the stamp, and give it that special touch it already has. According to his biographer, the photograph seems to have been kept for years, knowing that one day it would be the image that would illustrate the postage stamp that Nino Bravo already has.
With this stamp, and the efforts of the Calpe philatelic society, the historiography of the Valencian singer is now linked to Calpe, for the annals of the history of Spanish music.
