Aguas de Calpe is launching an information campaign to explain to residents that the November water bill will include the regional sanitation tax, a tax that the previous Council suspended between August 2022 and July 2023 to combat inflation and which the Town Council is now obliged to collect, as this regional tax was not suspended but postponed.
A few months ago, the Generalitat Valenciana (Regional Government) decided that this regional tax should be paid again and also include what was not paid during the period from August 2022 to July 2023. Aguas de Calpe and the Town Hall want families to be informed and to be able to make the necessary provisions. Considering that this is a regional tax in which its accrual, payment period and other circumstances are beyond the decision or will of the Calpe Town Hall, and it will mean an increase in the water bill, it is appropriate that the residents of Calpe are aware of this circumstance.
Thus, according to the decree of the Generalitat Valenciana, with the aim of minimising the impact on Valencian families of the deferred payment of the sewage fees, it is now established that the refund can be made in 36 months until 31 January 2025. It should be noted that this fee paid by the residents of Calp through the Aguas de Calpe bills is paid to the Generalitat Valenciana for the management and investment of the wastewater treatment system.
For this reason, the next water bills will be significantly higher than the last ones, as they will again include the amounts corresponding to the regional sewage fees, as well as an additional fee for the recovery of the deferred fees.
