Calp’s town council has launched the website www.calp.es/vuelta16 providing full details of anything related to Stage 19 of the Vuelta a España, which will finish in Calp. The Stage taking place on September 9th is an individual time trial starting in Xàbia and finishing in Calp.
This major sporting event will place Calp in the centre of the world’s attention and will be broadcasted live in more than 150 countries for more than three hours.
The aim of the website is to provide full details to the citizens so that they are aware not only of what the event is about, but also which sport and leisure activities have been planned for the day and which streets of the town will be affected.
The website already includes information about the route followed by the cyclists, from the carretera de Moraira to the finish line located in the old fish market, as well as the areas where the traffic will be interrupted. There is also information about volunteering, since organising this event requires the cooperation of the citizens, and the website includes an application form.
Additionally, the website will also promote Calp as a destination for cycling. The town receives a great number of professional cycling teams throughout the year that choose the “town of the Penyal” to train, attracted by its climate and topography, which are ideal for this sport. In this sense, the website will provide information about this topic, including connections to cycling routes in Calp and around the region.
During the upcoming months, further news and new sections will be added, providing any information generated by the preparations for the time trial.
