This week saw the completion of the renovation work on the pavement of the Domingo Crespo Pavilion, which was awarded to the company Soluciones Deportivas Ibaizabal for a total of 161,536€ and a completion period of two months.
The Domingo Crespo Pavilion, the main indoor sports facility in the municipality, had a wooden floor that after more than 20 years of use was in a poor state, despite having undergone occasional repairs. It was therefore necessary to renovate the sports flooring of the pavilion's court and replace it with one that would guarantee the development of official competitions in the future.
The work consisted of installing a new pavement over an area of 1,247 m2. The existing flooring was removed and a new flooring was laid, consisting of 22 mm thick, press-dried, PREMIUM selection solid beech wood boards, nailed onto 30 mm high laminated wood, in accordance with the EN 14904:A3 standard, and with updated FIBA 2023 certification. The sports flooring is finished around the perimeter with a 5 cm thick ventilated slotted chamber, closed with perforated stainless steel sheeting flush with the flooring.
The works began at the end of May, once the sports season was over, during a period of less activity by the sports clubs. The new pavement will also allow the practice of other sports modalities.
The Domingo Crespo Pavilion was built in 1983 and is one of the most important sports venues in the municipality. In its years of history it has hosted high level sports tournaments, top national basketball championships, the Pau Gasol and Juan Carlos Navarro campuses, etc. but also other social events such as the election of the queen of the fiestas or the folklore festival.
