Due to the communications and publications on social networks by the company Ilitia Mediterránea, current manager of the municipal swimming pool, promoting the sale of bathing vouchers, courses and indicating that "the pool will open next week", from the Calpe Town Hall we must indicate:
As announced in the press last Monday, this council has signed the resolution of the management contract of the municipal pool, which gives a period of 10 calendar days to proceed with the closure and delivery to the City Council from the time of receipt of the same.
This decree was received by Ilitia Mediterránea last Tuesday, 21st November. Therefore, the company must leave and close the facilities by Friday, 1st December at the latest.
The local government has learned that the company is promoting the sale of bathing vouchers and courses, knowing that it has must close and abandon the facilities. It also states "that it will guarantee the continuity of the service and denies any breach of contract".
Therefore, the sale of vouchers, courses or similar that exceed the period that the company will have the facilities will be considered as a criminal offence, and action will be taken accordingly. The Consistory also advises the public not to buy season tickets with a term that exceeds the indicated date of the reversion, as the company will not be able to provide the service.
In the words of Ximo Perles, Councillor for Sports and Contracting: "We are very clear about the repeated breaches of Ilitia Mediterránea's management, which has reached the point of endangering and even damaging people's health due to its negligence. The Consell Jurídic has proved us right and the company has no other option but to close and hand over the pool.
According to the mayoress, Ana Sala: "We are committed to defending the rights of the citizens of our town, we are not going to let any management company deceive them". She added: "The whole town council, with the contracting department at the forefront, is working hard to speed up the reopening of the swimming pool as much as possible, under municipal management".
As for the users of the swimming pool who have been left without service after having paid in advance, they will be able to make a claim for financial responsibility online using the specific form. They will have to provide proof of payment and each case will be studied on a case-by-case basis.
