The "Mare de Déu de les Neus" Civic Centre for the Elderly is 20 years old and for this reason the Town Hall has planned a special Cultural Week which will take place from 25th to 30th September.
Among the scheduled activities are a guided tour of the Ricardo Bofill buildings, taking advantage of the celebration of Bofill Year 2023, as well as talks on "Phishing", "Accompanying granddaughters and grandsons in equality", "Journalism, a necessary evil?", "Dependency and home help" and "Safety tips for the elderly". There will also be a gymnastics class and a laughter therapy workshop, and the Civic Centre's theatre group will perform the play "Pronóstico reservado" on Wednesday 27 June at 21:00. The cultural week will be brought to a close with a brotherhood meal in the Civic Centre restaurant on Friday 29th at 1.30pm and the “Gran Guateque”, a party to end the week's celebrations on Saturday 30th at 9.30pm.
The Councillor for the Elderly, Rebeca Merchán, pointed out that: "every year the Civic Centre celebrates a cultural week and this year the one we have programmed will be very special due to the quantity and quality of the activities planned". "We want it to be a week of your liking and we can celebrate as it deserves the first two decades of these facilities that have become a meeting place for the elderly of Calp, a place where they can perform multiple activities in order to improve their quality of life".
The Civic Centre is open to people over 60 years old and pensioners as well as their respective partners. The centre offers a wide range of activities such as workshops, courses, talks, gym classes, cultural excursions, among many others.
