Last Friday the Calp Town Council plenary session approved to adhere to the World Network of Age Friendly Cities, a project promoted by the WHO aimed at creating environments and services that facilitate active and healthy ageing.
The continued ageing of the population of Calp requires designing different public policies and anticipating the needs related to active ageing. The first step of this initiative is to undertake a study on the social reality of elderly people in the municipality, followed by a diagnosis and a project with a proposal serving as the basis for the preparation of social politics.
The plenary assembly also established the fair price of several properties of necessary occupation for the connection of the Rumanía Avenue and the País Valencià Avenue. The Town Council aims to continue with the expropriations that will allow the opening of the J Road. In addition, the assembly approved to agree on a credit operation for an amount of 249,962€ to complete the construction of the Unió Musical de Calp building.
On the other hand, the plenary assembly requested the Generalitat Valenciana to grant the Cross to Police Merit with the Blue Badge to the Calp Local Police officers Miguel Vizcaíno Fernández and Jessica Muñoz Paredes, who last August had to attend to an emergency birth in a house.
The proposal of the Grupo Municipal Socialista requesting measures for the protection of children as victims of gender violence was unanimously approved, but not the proposal of the Grupo Socialista requesting a new model of regional funding. The motion to request the Government of Spain to improve the financing of the tourist municipalities was also rejected.
